Four of Europe’s biggest football clubs are reportedly eyeing Micky van de Ven, Tottenham News understands.
The Dutchman had an impressive debut season in North London, having signed from Wolfsburg for £43 million last summer (Sky Sports News, 8 August). Despite a hamstring injury in November that sidelined him for two months, he swept Spurs’ Player of the Year awards (Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 11 May).
Van de Ven has quickly become one of Ange Postecoglou’s key players, and the Australian manager will be keen to retain him. However, this might be challenging given the interest from major clubs.
Tottenham must fend off interest in Micky van de Ven from across Europe. A recruitment source close to Spurs exclusively told Tottenham News that Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, PSG, and Juventus are all tracking the 23-year-old defender.
Convincing Spurs to part with their star defender would require “a lot of money,” as van de Ven is contracted until 2029.
To date, van de Ven has made 29 appearances for Spurs, scoring three goals. He is currently competing with the Dutch national team at the 2024 UEFA European Championship in Germany. He was a second-half substitute in the Netherlands’ 2-1 win over Poland in their Group D opener on 16 June.
