Everton has been one of the Premier League’s most active clubs in the transfer market this summer, with numerous player arrivals and departures.
The Toffees have brought in talents like Iliman Ndiaye and Jake O’Brien, while their most notable exit has been midfielder Amadou Onana, who was sold to Aston Villa for approximately £50 million.
Manager Sean Dyche is still searching the market for Onana’s replacement.
Among the potential replacements, Reims midfielder Amir Richardson has been a standout name, generating excitement among fans.
The 22-year-old has impressed at the 2024 Olympics, where he played for Morocco in their bronze medal match.
Richardson’s age and playing style align with the type of players Everton aims to recruit.
However, despite Everton’s initial interest, first reported by L’Equipe on July 3rd, Reims has since agreed to a deal with another club.
According to Le Parisien on August 8th, Fiorentina has had a bid of around £8.6 million accepted for Richardson, which includes a 10 percent sell-on clause for future transfers.
With Richardson likely heading to Serie A, Everton must now turn their attention to other targets.
Although Dyche has already secured several signings this window, more reinforcements may be needed to improve Everton’s standing in the Premier League.
The Merseyside club finished 15th last season, despite suffering an eight-point deduction due to two separate PSR charges.
Thankfully for Dyche, the club is unlikely to face similar sanctions during the 2024/25 campaign, partly due to the strategic sale of players like Lewis Dobbin.
While the transfer window remains open, Everton must act quickly if they hope to outmaneuver Fiorentina and secure Richardson’s services.
