“Breaking: Newcastle Stunned as Elanga Deal Hits £15M Hike Demand to Seal Transfer!”

Nottingham Forest Demand Higher Bid from Newcastle for Anthony Elanga Amid Summer Interest

On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke shared insights from sources regarding Anthony Elanga’s future.

The 23-year-old winger is attracting strong interest from Newcastle United, who have held a long-standing admiration for the player.

Newcastle had a £35 million bid for Elanga rejected last summer. Now, they’ve been informed it will take a minimum offer of £50 million to persuade Nottingham Forest to sell.

Football Insider reported on 11 June that Newcastle could ramp up their pursuit of Elanga after failing in their efforts to sign Bryan Mbeumo, who is now expected to join Manchester United.

Elanga had an impressive campaign in 2023-24, featuring in every Premier League match for Nottingham Forest.

The Swedish international contributed six goals and 11 assists, becoming an integral part of Forest’s attacking setup. Despite Forest’s reluctance to let him go, interest continues to grow.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider on 10 June that Elanga is keen to join Newcastle.

The Magpies are preparing to open formal discussions, further underlining their serious intent to secure his signature.

O’Rourke confirmed that Elanga remains high on Newcastle’s list of transfer targets. Although Forest are not eager to sell, they are already working behind the scenes to line up possible replacements, according to Brown on 13 June.

“Elanga is definitely a player Newcastle have tracked closely,” O’Rourke said. “They tried last year with a £35 million offer, which Forest turned down.

He’s had an excellent season—six goals in 43 appearances—and played a major role in their push for European football, which they just narrowly missed out on.”

Newcastle are focused on strengthening their right-wing options, especially with another Champions League campaign ahead.

O’Rourke added, “Elanga’s name remains near the top of the list. However, Forest are under no obligation to sell.

He’s under contract until 2028, and having rejected £35 million last summer, it’s likely they’d want significantly more—probably over £50 million.”

He concluded, “Newcastle are still very much in the hunt. This is one situation to monitor closely.”

Meanwhile, Newcastle may also face a significant departure on the wing, with Anthony Gordon attracting interest.

Football Insider reported on 13 June that the Magpies could consider offers around £75 million for the England international amid increasing attention from Liverpool.

Despite the interest, Newcastle are keen to retain Gordon, with sources indicating it would take an extraordinary offer to convince them to part ways.

The potential transfer has been labeled as “difficult” given the player’s value to the team.

This follows a previous report on 22 May by Football Insider, revealing that new Liverpool manager Arne Slot still has Gordon on his transfer radar, with Liverpool potentially preparing to renew their interest in the winger this summer.
