Matty Cash’s Aston Villa Transfer Fate Sealed with Tottenham Twist
The latest Aston Villa transfer update follows last month's speculation about Matty Cash leaving the club due to financial concerns related to PSR.
Matty Cash looks increasingly unlikely to join AC Milan this summer.
According to Calcio Mercato, now that the Premier League’s PSR deadline for 2023/24 has passed and Aston Villa has raised funds from other sales, the club is holding out for their full asking price of €35-40m (£29.6-33.8m) for the Poland international. This amount reportedly exceeds what the Italian club can afford.
Villa improved their PSR compliance with the €50m (£42.3m) sale of Douglas Luiz to Juventus, as expected. This sale followed Tim Iroegbunam’s transfer to Everton a week earlier, which brought in £9m.
Therefore, Cash will need to find another club, or he will remain with Villa. Just two weeks ago, he was named by the same Italian publication as Milan’s preferred choice. However, the latest update indicates that Milan’s focus is now shifting to Tottenham’s Emerson Royal.
Reports suggest that Royal is interested in the move and has already been in talks with Milan officials. They are set to approach Spurs for official negotiations soon, aiming to secure the signing for €17m (£14.3m) including bonuses, significantly less than the Brazilian’s €25m (£21.1m) price tag.
City rivals Inter Milan are also rumored to be interested in Cash, as their current option, Denzel Dumfries, has been linked with a move to Villa Park. Dumfries is now in the final 12 months of his contract at San Siro, where Inter officials are keen on securing his renewal.
