West Ham have completed the signing of Argentine midfielder Guido Rodriguez on a free transfer.
The 30-year-old joins the Hammers after his contract with Real Betis ended this summer.
Rodriguez, who operates primarily at the base of midfield, was part of Argentina’s squad that secured the World Cup in 2022 as well as the Copa America titles in 2021 and 2024.
West Ham’s technical director, Tim Steidten, described the acquisition as a significant statement of intent.
In other transfer news, Norwich City have acquired Manchester City defender Callum Doyle on a season-long loan.
The 20-year-old, who was part of Pep Guardiola’s pre-season tour in the United States, has yet to make a competitive first-team appearance for City.
Previously, Doyle has had loan spells at Sunderland, Coventry, and Leicester, where he contributed to the Foxes’ Championship-winning campaign last season.
Doyle expressed his excitement about the move on Norwich’s website, stating his eagerness to start and contribute to a successful season.
Norwich’s sporting director, Ben Knapper, expressed satisfaction that their persistence in acquiring Doyle has paid off.
Meanwhile, in the Championship, West Bromwich Albion have secured winger Lewis Dobbin on a season-long loan from Aston Villa.
Dobbin, who joined Villa in June, previously made 15 Premier League appearances for Everton and spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Derby County.
The 21-year-old expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to gain first-team experience at West Brom and is ready to face the challenges of the Championship.
