Orioles: See You Soon LHP Cionel Perez

On Sunday, the Baltimore Orioles made the decision to place left-handed reliever Cionel Perez on the 15-day injured list due to a right oblique strain.

Perez, aged 27, faced two batters at the start of the ninth inning on Saturday, allowing a triple and a single before exiting the game alongside head athletic trainer Brian Ebel during the Orioles’ 13-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels

Having made only one appearance in the current season, Perez holds a career record of 13 wins and 6 losses, boasting a 3.67 ERA, along with four saves, 83 walks, and 151 strikeouts in 161 2/3 innings across 177 relief appearances. He has previously played for the Houston Astros (2018-20), Cincinnati Reds (2021), and Orioles (2022-24).

In a corresponding roster move, Baltimore called up right-hander Jonathan Heasley from Triple-A Norfolk. Heasley, aged 27, was acquired in a trade with the Kansas City Royals on December 18. He has compiled a record of 5 wins and 11 losses with a 5.45 ERA, 52 walks, and 85 strikeouts over 133 2/3 innings in 36 games (24 starts) for the Royals from 2021 to 2023.
