O’Rourke Exclusive: Leeds Target Left-Back in Pursuit of Trio of Late Signings

Sources Reveal Leeds United Eager to Sign a Left-Back Before 30 August Transfer Deadline

Daniel Farke is focused on securing a new signing for the left side of his defense before the transfer window closes.

In addition to targeting a left-back, Leeds are also prioritizing deals for a striker and winger to replace the contributions of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter.

Junior Firpo, who has started in each of Leeds’ three games this season, is currently the first-choice left-back at Elland Road.

However, with Firpo’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, the club is keen on finding a long-term replacement.

Last month (21 July), Football Insider reported that Leeds had initiated early contact regarding a potential deal for PEC Zwolle’s Anselmo Garcia MacNulty.

With the recent departures of key players like Summerville and Rutter for substantial fees, Leeds are now shifting their focus to incoming transfers for the remainder of the window.

In addition to Firpo, Leeds have versatile defender Sam Byram as a backup left-back. The club has already strengthened the opposite flank by permanently signing Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United.

Leeds have had a mixed start to the new Championship season, earning two points from a possible six, and they were also eliminated from the League Cup by Middlesbrough.

The Yorkshire side’s next match is against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday (23 August), just one week before the transfer window closes.
