Paul Robinson Commends Daniel Levy for Securing “Incredible” Player Deal

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has praised Spurs’ deal, labeling it a “win-win” scenario for the North London side.

Robinson believes Cardoso could be a valuable addition for manager Ange Postecoglou, particularly considering the midfielder’s performances for Real Betis this season.

Discussing the agreement, Robinson told Football Insider: “Tottenham are in a win-win situation.

Either they secure a top player who has nearly doubled his value over six months, or they get a share of his sale when he’s transferred for a significant sum.

“It’s a classic Daniel Levy deal—brilliant. They get first refusal on a player, and if he doesn’t sign, they still benefit financially.

He’s only 23, already has 17 caps for the USA, and has room to develop further.

“Cardoso has been outstanding for Betis, proving he’s a talented player.

Although the Premier League is a faster league compared to La Liga, he could be a strong option for Spurs.”

Is a Midfielder a Priority for Spurs?

Despite the advantages of signing Cardoso, Robinson questions whether bringing in another midfielder is a pressing need for Tottenham.

He notes the abundance of talent already available in the team’s midfield under Postecoglou.

“There’s no shortage of midfield talent at Tottenham,” Robinson added.

“Cardoso has delivered some man-of-the-match performances for Betis, and he’s someone to watch closely.

However, does he start for Spurs? He’d be a great squad player, but I’m not sure where he fits in.

“This kind of deal is unprecedented. It’s one of the most innovative agreements I’ve seen in football.”
