Paul Robinson doubts Tottenham will allow Radu Dragusin to leave in the January transfer window despite recent speculation.
According to InterLive on October 21, Tottenham could consider including 22-year-old defender Radu Dragusin in a player-plus-cash deal for Yann Bisseck, while Gazzetta dello Sport has linked Juventus with a January loan move for Dragusin.
With Micky van de Ven sidelined due to injury and Cristian Romero narrowly avoiding a long-term setback, Spurs have limited options at center-back.
Speaking to Tottenham News, former player Paul Robinson believes it would be a mistake for Tottenham to let Dragusin go in the January window.
“They simply can’t afford to let him go,” Robinson stated. “With both Romero and van de Ven prone to injuries, neither of them has consistently completed a full season.
With the demands of European football, Spurs will be looking to reinforce in January, not offload someone like Dragusin, who hasn’t yet had a proper run of games.”
Robinson also noted Dragusin’s quality, observed in his performances at the Euros, emphasizing that Spurs are unlikely to part ways with him this January.
Instead, he believes the club will focus on bringing in another defensive option.
Dragusin’s role has grown since van de Ven’s injury, with three Premier League starts this season after making only four last year.
Given Spurs’ defensive needs, letting him leave, even temporarily, would likely hinder the squad’s depth.
While Dragusin may be frustrated with limited minutes, Robinson suggests that if he wants a key role under manager Ange Postecoglou, he must continue to prove his value on the pitch.
