“Newcastle United’s SHOCKING Jonathan David Transfer Bombshell: Jaw-Dropping Contract Offer Will Leave You SPEECHLESS!”

Jonathan David has been linked with a move to Newcastle United at the end of the season

Napoli have reportedly made a formal offer to sign Jonathan David on a free transfer once his contract with Lille expires at the end of the current season.

The 25-year-old Canadian striker is expected to leave the Ligue 1 side when his deal runs out in June, ending a five-year spell with the club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Napoli are in advanced negotiations with David and have recently sent him a contract proposal.

“Napoli have submitted a proposal to Jonathan David with advanced talks ongoing for a free transfer,” Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter).

“An important contract offer has been sent to the striker, who’s expected to leave Lille at the end of the season. Some details still need to be resolved, with more discussions planned.”

David has been in strong form this season, netting 16 goals in 31 league appearances.

His performances have attracted interest from other top European clubs, including Inter Milan, Barcelona, and Newcastle United.

The Chronicle reported back in January that Newcastle had entered the race for David’s signature, having sent scouts to monitor his performances earlier in the campaign.

It’s also understood that Newcastle’s sporting director, Paul Mitchell, reached out to David’s representatives to discuss a potential transfer.

David has previously expressed a strong interest in playing in the Premier League. In an earlier interview, he commented, “I think it’s very possible.

I don’t know if I can see myself anywhere other than the Premier League. It has a very nice atmosphere.”

Speaking more recently about his future, David told Golazo America: “This summer, I’m not sure if I’m staying or going.

But if I do leave, I know I’ll need to challenge myself at the highest level. When you’re at a big club, your place in the team isn’t guaranteed.

I’ll have to fight for my spot wherever I go. I know this is an important year and a big decision—I’ll make the right one.”

If David does choose Newcastle, the club may be able to offer him Champions League football.

Their recent 2-0 win over Chelsea pushed Eddie Howe’s team into third place in the Premier League standings, with just two games remaining in the season.

The Magpies returned to Europe’s top competition in 2023, but failed to advance from a tough group that included AC Milan, PSG, and Borussia Dortmund.

Looking ahead, Newcastle are set to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. A victory could see them leapfrog Mikel Arteta’s side and move into second place in the league standings, further boosting their appeal to top transfer targets like David.
