After Scoring Leeds' Title-Winning Goal, Manor Solomon Was Expected to Be Their First Summer Signing
Solomon’s dramatic late winner at Plymouth secured Leeds United the Championship title, marking his 23rd goal involvement of the 2024–25 campaign.
The winger had openly hinted at a desire to make his move to Elland Road permanent, and with Tottenham Hotspur seemingly open to letting him go, a deal once looked promising.
Spurs had just lifted the Europa League trophy, and with Solomon having joined them on a free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk, any sale would represent pure profit.
Reports suggested chairman Daniel Levy was looking for a modest £15–£20 million fee.
However, the situation has since shifted. Tottenham have sacked Ange Postecoglou and appointed Thomas Frank, who reportedly wants to assess Solomon during pre-season before making a decision on his future. In the meantime, the player has made his stance clear to the North London club.
Solomon asks Spurs for another opportunity
Solomon barely had a chance to prove himself after joining Spurs in the summer of 2023. He made just six appearances, registering two assists before suffering a serious meniscus injury.
Now fully fit following his successful loan spell at Leeds, he has informed Spurs he would like another shot at breaking into their first team.
Despite his previous hints about staying at Leeds, Leeds Live now report that Solomon’s preference is to remain at Tottenham, at least for the time being.
Frank is keen to evaluate him during pre-season before making any transfer decisions.
Tottenham, known for being difficult negotiators in the transfer market, are believed to value Solomon much higher than initially expected.
They reportedly see him as a top-end Championship-level player and have placed a £30–£40 million price tag on him—far above what Leeds would be willing to pay.
Leeds remain interested, but the fee is a major obstacle
During Leeds’ promotion celebrations, club icon Harry Gray called for Solomon to be signed permanently.
Minority owners TJ McConnell and Larry Nance Jr are also big admirers, as is winger Dan James, who has praised Solomon’s quality.
However, despite the widespread desire to keep him, Leeds may be priced out of a deal.
The 49ers have provided a £150 million transfer budget, but the club has prioritized strengthening key areas: a goalkeeper, centre-back, midfielder, and striker.
With nearly £20 million set to go towards Jaka Bijol’s transfer, other targets—including a left-back and a No.10—must also be considered.
If Spurs are expecting a club-record fee for Solomon, a deal seems unlikely. Tottenham have just secured the permanent signing of Mathys Tel, who can also operate on the left wing, which may influence their stance on Solomon’s future.
