West Ham must ensure Jean-Clair Todibo stays at the club permanently.
The Hammers have an obligation to buy the French defender for £35m at the end of the season, a clause that will automatically activate.
However, the expectation is that Todibo will be purchased from Nice and quickly sold to generate transfer funds.
Yet, given his undeniable quality, West Ham should seriously reconsider any plan to ‘flip’ him to Manchester United, who were initially keen on signing him.
Despite limited minutes under Graham Potter in the last two games, Todibo has already showcased his class.
Watching him play, it’s clear why Barcelona initially signed him with high hopes.
He fits seamlessly into Potter’s three-man defensive system and must remain at West Ham.
His career may not have followed the expected trajectory of Europe’s once most promising defender, but his talent is evident.
Finding a better alternative would be difficult, and there’s a reason top clubs like Manchester United, Juventus, and PSG are chasing him.
West Ham hold the advantage—he is our player. If the club needs funds in the next transfer window, it should look elsewhere.
