FA Deals Wolves a Setback, Offering Leicester City a Slim Relegation Lifeline

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ key forward, Matheus Cunha, has been handed an additional one-game suspension, offering a slight advantage to Leicester City in their battle against relegation.

However, Leicester must first address their own struggles, having lost their last six Premier League matches without scoring.

Under Ruud van Nistelrooy, the Foxes have managed just two wins, one draw, and 13 defeats in 16 league fixtures, leaving them on the brink of an immediate return to the Championship.

To avoid relegation, Leicester must overturn a nine-point deficit to 17th-placed Wolves with a strong finish in their remaining nine matches.

Wolves were in the relegation zone when Vitor Pereira took over in December, but a solid run of results has steered them clear of immediate danger.

Cunha has played a crucial role in their resurgence, though his discipline has been an issue.

The Brazilian received a two-game ban in December for forcibly removing an Ipswich Town staff member’s glasses and was recently sent off for violent conduct in an FA Cup loss to Bournemouth.

The FA has extended his latest suspension to four matches, ruling him out of Wolves’ fixtures against West Ham and relegation rivals Ipswich Town.

He will be eligible to return on April 13 when Wolves face Tottenham.
