Heung-min Son hasn’t fully impressed McCoist
Heung-min Son is nearing his tenth year with Tottenham Hotspur, consistently delivering goals, assists, and match-winning moments throughout his time at the club.
Additionally, he’s been a key figure for South Korea, leading his nation in major tournaments and on track to break records for appearances and goals.
However, in a recent talkSPORT appearance (08/10/2024 at 7:45 am), Ally McCoist expressed that Son isn’t quite at the level of being world-class.
When asked about Son’s status, McCoist responded: “The fact is, not recently [Son hasn’t been world-class], but over his career, he is on the cusp. He is on the cusp. But, no.”

Defining world-class talent is subjective, but Son’s numbers and longevity should be enough to earn him that label.
During Harry Kane’s time at the club, Son was incredibly prolific, and the duo remains the most effective partnership in Premier League history, with 47 assists for one another.
Son has also consistently delivered double-digit goal tallies every season since 2016/17, further proving his reliability for Spurs.
Son still has more to offer
At 32, Son is approaching the later stages of his career, but he still has plenty to give.
His pace remains, and his finishing is as sharp as ever.
There’s a strong possibility he’ll continue to perform at a high level for another two or three years.
If he can help Spurs win a trophy, he will undoubtedly cement his legacy as aclub legend.
