The Hammers fought back to secure a 1-1 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium, a result that may ease some pressure on under-fire manager Julen Lopetegui.
Bryan Mbeumo gave Brentford an early lead, scoring in the first minute, but Tomas Soucek equalized for West Ham in the 54th minute.
The draw leaves West Ham 14th in the Premier League with five points from six games.
One player who underperformed for West Ham was Lucas Paqueta.
The Brazilian midfielder created two chances but struggled overall, completing only 80% of his passes and losing five of his seven ground duels.
Former Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Celtic striker Tony Cascarino was highly critical of Paqueta, accusing him of appearing “disinterested” before being substituted in the 76th minute.
“I’ll tell you who was really disappointing: Paqueta for West Ham,” Cascarino told talkSPORT (via West Ham Zone).
“I thought he really didn’t get going, and by the way, he looked really disinterested.
I was watching Lopetegui, and as soon as Paqueta made two or three really bad passes, Lopetegui looked at him and eventually dragged him off.”
