David, 24, has risen swiftly since being signed from the Estonian league by Union Saint-Gilloise last year.

He has scored 20 goals in 44 matches for the Belgian club, including a Champions League winner against Galatasaray, and has built a reputation as an old-fashioned number nine who thrives through power, movement, and penalty-box instincts.

Despite his imposing 6’4”–6’5” frame, David is not solely an aerial presence. He regularly finds pockets of space in congested areas and times his runs well, giving defenders constant problems.

While not especially technical – his passing can be erratic and his finishing slightly underperforms his xG – he generates such a high volume of chances through intelligent movement that he remains a consistent scoring threat.

Although he has yet to score a header this season, his strength and hold-up play allow him to contribute with his back to goal.

In essence, he is a classic target man whose mobility still allows him to be effective in a more ground-based system.

His profile closely mirrors the attributes West Ham sought when signing Füllkrug and, before that, Scamacca.

He may not become an elite all-round forward, but he has proven he can score regularly in Belgium, Europe (three goals in seven across UEFA competitions), and internationally (three in eight for Canada).

The question is whether he can translate those numbers to the Premier League, and whether West Ham are convinced he can offer 10 or more goals a season at the highest level.

How Likely is a January Move?

Reports of West Ham’s interest originated from club-focused outlet Claret & Hugh, who are considered well-connected but not always widely corroborated by national media.

Other publications, including GiveMeSport, have repeated the claims without providing independent confirmation, meaning the rumour currently rests on limited sourcing.

Claret & Hugh suggest a £17m price tag and note that Leeds United and Stuttgart are also monitoring David.

The fee appears manageable for a club not expecting a large January budget, but competition could complicate any pursuit.

David is one of several strikers linked with West Ham, with other names such as Franculino Djú also on their radar. It remains unclear whether David is a priority target or simply one option among many.

A clearer picture will emerge in January, but if the Canadian forward continues his recent form, he will only strengthen his case for a Premier League switch.
