Leicester City could be forced to find a replacement for Ruud van Nistelrooy before the season ends.
Leicester City appointed Ruud van Nistelrooy as manager in late November, with his first game in charge coming on December 3rd against West Ham United.
The Foxes started well, securing a 3-1 victory, followed by a 2-2 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.
However, things quickly took a turn for the worse, with Van Nistelrooy leading Leicester to 10 defeats in their next 11 matches.
After a heavy loss to Brentford on Friday, frustration among fans has grown.
Many supporters have suggested Sean Dyche as a potential replacement, but Leicester may not need to look far for a new manager.
Andy King as a Potential Caretaker
Fans are eager for change, whether in the dugout or at the board level, but financial constraints could limit Leicester’s ability to make major moves this season.
Club owner Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha made it clear to players in late 2024 that another managerial change would negatively impact the club’s finances.
If Van Nistelrooy is dismissed, Andy King could step in as caretaker for the remainder of the season.
King officially joined Leicester’s coaching staff earlier this week and has already been making a positive impact.
Van Nistelrooy on Andy King’s Value
King is no stranger to Leicester’s highs and lows, having been part of the squad that pulled off a remarkable escape from relegation in 2014/15 before winning the Premier League title the following season.
Speaking to Leicestershire Live, Van Nistelrooy acknowledged King’s contributions and the importance of his experience.
“Of course. Those experiences are things we can use as examples,” he said.
“You can lose a certain number of games, but in football, there’s always a turnaround if you keep working and preparing.
“That’s also his message. That turnaround didn’t come out of nowhere.
It happened because they stuck to the plan, worked hard, and believed.
“That’s how they turned it around. That’s what he shared, and that’s very valuable.”
