According to reports from the USA, Kent is in advanced negotiations to join Major League Soccer (MLS) side Seattle Sounders.
Colombian journalist Niko Moreno broke the news, revealing that Kent is expected to sign a short-term deal until the end of the season, with the option for an additional year.
This move would finally put an end to speculation linking Kent with a shock switch to Iran, where former Fenerbahce boss Ismail Kartal reportedly wanted to bring him to Persepolis FC.
Despite rumors that Kent could even take his pet crocodiles to Iran as part of the move, it appears he has opted for an MLS lifeline instead.
Rangers’ Costly £15m Mistake
While Rangers fans will remember Kent for his standout performances in Old Firm clashes and the club’s run to the Europa League final in Seville, his final years at Ibrox were less impressive.
A lack of end product and inconsistency in the final third played a role in Rangers relinquishing their brief dominance over Celtic.
Across his final two seasons, Kent managed just six goals—far from the output expected of a £7m player (Times).
At his peak, Kent attracted interest from Premier League side Leeds United, with reports suggesting the Yorkshire club were willing to pay up to £15m (Daily Mail).
However, Rangers failed to capitalize, letting him run down his contract and eventually leaving for free.
This costly misstep is part of a wider issue at Rangers, where key players have frequently been allowed to leave without generating transfer revenue.
Kent’s decline serves as a cautionary tale, underscoring why the club must be more proactive in securing contract extensions for valuable assets.
