Rangers

“Rangers Handed SHOCK Chance to Steal £40M Champions League LEGEND for NOTHING in Epic Ibrox Coup!”

Rangers are reportedly eyeing a Premier League title winner and current free agent who “ticks a lot of boxes” for the Ibrox side as they search for reinforcements.

McCoist clears up rumours

The Gers have endured a dreadful start to the season, with Russell Martin struggling badly in his early days as manager.

Pressure has already mounted on him, with some suggesting he is fighting to save his job week by week.

Although Rangers icon Ally McCoist has been openly critical of the team’s displays under Martin, he has also moved to dismiss false claims circulating online.

“I’ve been misquoted on TikTok, Instagram, and all that nonsense,” McCoist said. “They’ve had me supposedly tearing into the Rangers manager and the club’s current state, but it’s absolute rubbish. I felt I had to set the record straight and clear that up.”

For now, reports indicate Martin’s position remains safe, with 49 Enterprises reluctant to dismiss him so early. Even so, fresh signings in key positions could give him a lifeline.

Premier League champion targeted

Speaking to Football Insider, journalist Pete O’Rourke backed Rangers to pursue Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who recently became a free agent after leaving Besiktas.

“He’s one of the standout free transfers left available, no doubt about it,” O’Rourke explained.

“Oxlade-Chamberlain has a wealth of top-level experience, having played for Arsenal, Liverpool and England, and his pedigree is excellent.

“With Rangers looking to bolster their midfield, he’d tick a lot of boxes. His versatility makes him even more appealing—he can operate centrally or out wide, and the fact he’s on a free makes him a very attractive option.”

O’Rourke noted that Rangers’ midfield has been a major concern so far this season, with poor results highlighting a lack of depth and creativity.

Martin, therefore, could be eager to add someone of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s calibre. However, competition is expected, with other clubs across England also monitoring his availability.

An exciting opportunity

Landing Oxlade-Chamberlain would represent a statement signing for Rangers, especially if they manage to beat Premier League clubs to his signature.

Once valued at £40 million, the midfielder won both the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool, featuring in Jurgen Klopp’s title-winning 2019/20 campaign. Klopp even once described him as “sensational.”

While injuries and inconsistency mean he is no longer the explosive force of his prime, Oxlade-Chamberlain may be motivated to prove himself again as he enters the later stages of his career.

His experience, quality and winning mentality could provide Rangers with the attacking drive and leadership they sorely need.
