Rangers in Talks to Sign ‘Fantastic’ Midfielder This Summer, Reveals Scott Burns

The midfielder has been linked with a move to Ibrox since the start of the winter transfer window.

However, journalist Burns believes it is unlikely Rangers will spend any money on signings during this period.

Speaking on Daily Record’s Hotline Live (21 January), Burns provided an update on the situation.

“It’s now about moving players out to free up the budget for this window,” he explained.

He added, “Another target they are pursuing is Lyall Cameron. I think there have been discussions with his camp about a potential deal.

This deal, however, is planned for the summer. I don’t see Rangers paying any fees in this window unless they offload players.”

A move for Lyall Cameron could be intriguing for Rangers. Last summer, the club secured a similar deal with Connor Barron, who joined Philippe Clement’s team on a free transfer.

Unlike Barron, though, Cameron brings more experience, having played in both advanced and defensive roles in midfield.

This season, Cameron, described as “fantastic” by Tony Docherty, has been utilized more defensively but still boasts an impressive 15 goal contributions in 29 appearances across all competitions.

While Rangers recently welcomed Nedim Bajrami and found a role for Ianis Hagi, adding another creative player like Cameron would only strengthen their squad.

His creativity could make an immediate impact, and he might even challenge for a first-team spot upon arrival.

However, waiting until summer to sign Cameron seems logical. Rangers’ midfield is currently well-stocked, while other areas of the squad require more urgent reinforcements.
