Hamilton Academical secure loan signing of Rangers defender Zander Hutton
Nineteen-year-old defender Zander Hutton will spend the 2025/26 campaign on loan with Hamilton Academical in Lanarkshire.
A product of the Rangers academy, Hutton has steadily progressed through the ranks and caught the eye of manager Russell Martin during pre-season.
He featured in the summer friendly against Middlesbrough, marking his first appearance for the senior side.
Last season, while Barry Ferguson was serving as interim boss, Hutton earned places in several Rangers matchday squads.
He was named on the bench for Champions League qualifiers and appeared among the substitutes in three Europa League group fixtures.
Naturally a right-back, he gained regular minutes with the Rangers B team throughout the previous campaign.
He also carries international experience, having represented Scotland at both under-16 and under-17 level.
Hamilton head coach John Rankin was full of praise for the youngster upon his arrival. “Zander is a talented young player, and when the chance came to bring him in, it was one we had to take.
He’s got a bright future ahead of him and provides valuable cover in an area where we’re short. We want him to come in full of energy, ready to contribute immediately, and I’m sure he will.”
Speaking about the move, Hutton expressed his enthusiasm. “I had a great chat with the gaffer this week and was excited by his vision for the season and how I can play a part in it.
Being involved with Rangers’ first team in pre-season was a fantastic experience and a big learning curve. Now I’m eager to play consistently and help the team each week.”
In a statement, Rangers confirmed: “Zander Hutton has joined Hamilton Academical on loan for the season. Everyone at the club wishes him the very best in South Lanarkshire.”
