Arsenal Open to Deal as Rangers Step Up Interest in Karl Hein
Rangers already have several goalkeepers in their squad, but manager Russell Martin appears keen to add further depth to the position.
Jack Butland started the season as the first-choice goalkeeper, despite being replaced by Liam Kelly at the end of the previous campaign.
However, Rangers may soon bolster their goalkeeping ranks, with Arsenal open to parting ways with Estonian shot-stopper Karl Hein before the transfer window closes.
The Light Blues have shown interest in Hein in the past, and now that Arsenal are ready to sanction his exit, a move could be on the cards.
The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Real Valladolid in LaLiga, where he performed admirably, keeping five clean sheets despite the club finishing at the bottom of the table.
Despite his solid showing in Spain, Mikel Arteta appears ready to let Hein leave permanently, ending his long-standing association with Arsenal, which began over seven years ago.
Rangers are reportedly among the clubs interested, although they are expected to face competition for his signature.
According to The Mirror (8 August), Spanish side Levante are also pursuing a loan move for Hein.
However, Arsenal are said to prefer a permanent transfer and are “actively encouraging bids” from other clubs.
This stance could work in Rangers’ favour if they are willing to negotiate a full-time deal.
Should Martin opt to push for Hein’s signing, the goalkeeper would be a valuable addition, especially as competition and cover for Butland and Kelly.
Working alongside those experienced goalkeepers could also aid Hein’s development, making the move beneficial for all parties.
It remains to be seen how much Arsenal would demand for the Estonian international and whether Hein himself would be open to a switch to Ibrox this summer.
