Rangers Agree to Sell Key Defender as Russell Martin Overhauls Squad
Glasgow Rangers have reached an agreement to sell one of their key defenders in the ongoing summer transfer window, according to a fresh update from Sky Sports.
The move comes as part of manager Russell Martin’s determined efforts to reshape his squad at Ibrox.
Martin’s Ruthless Vision at Ibrox
Russell Martin faces a massive challenge in Glasgow, with expectations high as he looks to dethrone Celtic and bring the Scottish Premiership title back to Ibrox.
Since taking charge, the 39-year-old has impressed with his clear and uncompromising vision for the future.
His transfer approach is focused and direct, as he looks for players fully committed to the club’s ambitions.
Speaking recently about his recruitment philosophy, Martin said:

Robin Propper Set for Exit
Among those leaving is centre-back Robin Propper. Sky Sports reports that Rangers have agreed a deal for the Dutch defender to return to his former club, FC Twente.
The transfer is now dependent on Propper agreeing to personal terms with the Eredivisie side.
Propper, who earns around £9,000 per week, only joined Rangers from Twente in the summer of 2024 but has not consistently impressed during his short time in Glasgow.
He made just 21 league starts last season and, at 31 years old, does not fit the long-term profile Martin is aiming for.
Despite Martin recently praising Propper and saying he was “really impressed” by his attitude, the decision to part ways reflects a broader effort to refresh the defensive unit.
Rangers are expected to reinvest in younger talent that aligns with Martin’s style and long-term goals.
In addition to Propper, several other players, including Leon King, Ben Davies, Clinton Nsiala, and Jose Cifuentes, are also likely to leave Ibrox this summer as the overhaul continues.
