Paul Merson Predicts Tottenham vs. Chelsea Winner and Highlights Key Concern

With a Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton also on the horizon, football fans are set to enjoy two thrilling matches in the coming days.

Tottenham and Chelsea are currently experiencing contrasting fortunes across all competitions.

While Tottenham have failed to win in three games since defeating Manchester City, Chelsea are in excellent form, sitting second in the table, above Arsenal on goal difference.

Paul Merson has predicted further woes for Tottenham, sharing his scoreline for the London derby this weekend.

Paul Merson Predicts Chelsea to Beat Tottenham

After Tottenham’s disappointing 1-0 loss to Bournemouth, Ange Postecoglou was seen addressing the fans, reflecting the struggles his team is facing.

In contrast, Chelsea, under the management of Enzo Maresca, have looked revitalized, with the new coach making a strong impact since replacing Mauricio Pochettino.

Merson predicts a 3-1 victory for Chelsea but expressed concerns about Chelsea’s defense after they conceded several chances against Southampton, even when playing against ten men.

Writing in his column for Sportskeeda, Merson said:

“The only thing that worries me with Chelsea is that they gave away a couple of really good chances to Southampton, even when they were only playing against 10 men.

“Ange Postecoglou wants Tottenham to be entertaining—that’s how they try to play. Chelsea have better players in nearly every position and may have too much for Spurs to handle.”

Tottenham’s Plans for Postecoglou

Currently 10th in the Premier League, Tottenham have struggled with inconsistency this season.

Former player Jamie O’Hara believes that chairman Daniel Levy may consider sacking Postecoglou if results don’t improve by Christmas.

Spurs face a packed schedule, including fixtures against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Nottingham Forest.

However, TBR Football revealed that Tottenham currently have no plans to dismiss Postecoglou, despite their recent poor run.

Nevertheless, with rivals finding form, Tottenham must start securing wins soon, or the pressure on the Australian manager could intensify.
