West Ham United are reportedly close to signing a speedy young attacker from a Premier League competitor.
Steidten and Lopetegui Impacting West Ham’s Signings
New manager Julen Lopetegui, who joined West Ham, expressed his desire to make a significant impact at the London Stadium, aiming to create a “big, big noise” with the team.
He stated, “I’m thrilled to be part of this great club’s future. We will try to leave our mark. The past few years have laid a fantastic foundation, but my ambition is always to push for more, to improve the players and the team, and to compete at the highest level. Football is about competition, and we are very ambitious in that regard.
“I’m here because I want to be. When we finalized our agreement, it was a fantastic moment because our commitment to West Ham is 100%. We had other opportunities, but I’m delighted that both the club and I chose each other.
“Our intention is to make a significant impact. We’re excited about the challenge and are committed to helping the club and team reach the highest level and achieve our goals. I assure the fans they will play a crucial role in our success.”
Lopetegui, alongside technical director Tim Steidten, is already making moves in the transfer market. West Ham has invested significantly in teenage winger Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras, and Wes Foderingham has also joined on a free transfer.
The club is also in pursuit of Wolves’ center-back Max Kilman, and additional attacking reinforcements are expected. They have submitted bids for Galatasaray’s Wilfried Zaha and Fluminense’s Jhon Arias.
West Ham has held discussions to acquire Lille striker Jonathan David, potentially available for £17 million, and they’ve shown interest in signing Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson.
However, not all new attacking players will join the first team, as there are plans for academy signings as well.
According to The Secret Scout, West Ham is set to sign David Chigwada from Manchester City. Chigwada, a “quick attacker,” previously played for Blackburn Rovers before joining City and now appears poised to move to West Ham, who are keen on adding a promising new talent to their U18 squad.
At just 16, Chigwada is one to watch in the club’s academy. Over time, he may progress to the first team, possibly still under Lopetegui’s guidance.
