Following their 6-4 victory against the Seattle Mariners on Opening Day at T-Mobile Park, the Boston Red Sox are gearing up for their second matchup with the team on Friday night.
Ahead of the game, the Red Sox revealed a slight alteration to their lineup for the upcoming clash.
The lineup for Friday features:
1. LF Jarren Duran
2. 3B Rafael Devers
3. SS Trevor Story
4. 1B Triston Casas
5. RF Tyler O’Neill
6. DH Masataka Yoshida
7. CF Ceddanne Rafaela
8. 2B Enmanuel Valdez
9. C Reese McGuire
McGuire is stepping into the lineup as catcher in place of Connor Wong, who delivered a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI on Opening Day.
In the previous season, McGuire showcased a .267 batting average for Boston, tallying 16 RBIs and hitting one home run.
He will be behind the plate for Nick Pivetta, who experienced shifts between the starting lineup and bullpen throughout 2023, registering a 4.04 ERA in 38 appearances – his lowest full-season ERA since joining Boston midway through the 2020 campaign.
