Jermaine Pennant: Everton Fully Capable of Defeating Fulham After Recent Improvements
Speaking on talkSPORT with Jason Cundy on October 25, Jermaine Pennant expressed his belief that there won’t be many goals in the upcoming match between Everton and Fulham at Craven Cottage on October 26.
He noted that Sean Dyche’s team is currently unbeaten in their last four matches, achieving two wins and two clean sheets, and he doesn’t expect Jordan Pickford to concede against the Cottagers.
Pennant stated, “I think there’s not going to be goals in this—I can’t see Everton conceding at home.
They seem to have turned a corner, having not lost in a month, and they look more solid. I’m predicting a 1-0 win for Everton, as they’re not a team that’s thriving on goals this season.”
Everton’s defenders are eager for a strong performance against Fulham, especially considering their shaky start to the season.
Initially, Pickford’s error-prone displays led many to believe he might go the entire campaign without a clean sheet, as the team conceded 13 goals and scored only four in their first four matches, losing all of them and landing at the bottom of the table.
However, in recent weeks, despite ongoing defensive injury issues, the team has improved significantly, and another clean sheet against Fulham would mark their third consecutive one.
The anticipated return of key player Jarrad Branthwaite adds to the competition in defense, leaving manager Dyche with a tough choice about who to drop, given the strong performances from Michael Keane and James Tarkowski.
Additionally, with Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson nearing full fitness alongside Ashley Young’s impressive displays, Dyche now has plenty of options to bolster his defense against Fulham.
