Report: £9m Leicester City Target Cleared for January Move by Current Club

Leicester City have conceded 42 goals in 19 Premier League matches this season, marking the joint-worst defensive record in the league alongside Wolverhampton Wanderers.

This defensive frailty has led to widespread speculation about Leicester bolstering their backline during the January transfer window.

The club is reportedly prioritizing center-backs, with several potential signings already being discussed.

Interestingly, another Marseille player, Lilian Brassier, has also emerged as a target for Leicester in the current window.

Reports suggest Leicester are keen on Brassier, although Villarreal could provide competition for his signature.

Currently on loan at Brest until 2024/25, when the transfer will become permanent, Brassier might now leave Marseille earlier than anticipated.

According to French outlet L’Equipe, Marseille is open to offloading a few players during the January transfer window, with most of them being defenders.

Brassier has been highlighted as one of the players likely to depart, with a move reportedly being the club’s “preferred solution.”

However, the exact transfer fee Leicester might need to pay for Brassier remains unclear.

Marseille initially signed the player on loan with an obligation to buy for around €11 million (£9 million), as reported by Get French Football News.

Considering the recent nature of his transfer, it is expected that Marseille would aim to recoup a similar amount if they decide to sell him this month.

The 25-year-old has featured in 10 matches for Marseille this season, demonstrating versatility by playing both as a center-back and left-back.
