Report: Aston Villa in positive talks to sign Everton winger – The Athletic

According to The Athletic, Aston Villa is keen on acquiring Lewis Dobbin, while Everton is engaged in negotiations to secure Tim Iroegbunam this summer.

The report indicates that Aston Villa has had encouraging discussions regarding the 21-year-old Everton winger. Meanwhile, Everton is pursuing a potential £10m deal to bring Iroegbunam to Goodison Park, a transaction noted separately by both The Athletic and the Daily Mail.

Lewis Dobbin, who has already notched a competitive goal for Everton, could see increased playing time next season under Sean Dyche. Having previously completed a loan stint with Derby County, Dobbin might be on the verge of a permanent move away from Goodison Park.

Amid the financial challenges Premier League clubs face this summer, swap deals are gaining popularity. Although The Athletic emphasizes that these potential transfers are distinct, there remains a possibility that Villa could engage in a transaction involving Iroegbunam, potentially facilitating Dobbin’s move to Everton.

Whether Dyche would approve of such an arrangement remains uncertain, particularly given the limited signings he might secure this summer. Dobbin’s speed and direct approach off the bench could prove pivotal for Everton next season.

As for Everton, the decision whether to acquire Iroegbunam or let the winger depart represents a significant choice for the club this transfer window.
