Leeds United Seek Additional Reinforcements Following Significant Summer Departures
Crysencio Summerville has transferred to West Ham United, Archie Gray has moved to Tottenham Hotspur, and most recently, Georginio Rutter has joined Brighton and Hove Albion.
This has created a clear need for attacking signings at Leeds United.
It has been reported that one of their rumored targets, Jack Clarke, is having difficulty agreeing to a new contract with his current club, Sunderland.
According to Alan Nixon, Sunderland is trying to secure Clarke with a new deal to fend off interest from other clubs.
However, Clarke, a former Leeds and Tottenham attacker, has not agreed to any of the offers presented so far.
This situation potentially provides Leeds United with a window of opportunity to make a move for Clarke within the remaining 12 days of the transfer window.
Jack Clarke has had two exceptional seasons in the Championship with Sunderland, scoring 24 goals and providing 16 assists across the last two campaigns. He has already opened his account for this season.
Sunderland reportedly values Clarke at around £18 million, a price tag that has deterred several suitors in recent weeks.
However, given that Leeds United is set to raise approximately £140 million in player sales, especially after the Rutter deal is finalized, signing Clarke should be a feasible deal for them.
