Leicester City team news vs Crystal Palace: Stephy Mavididi earns first Premier League start

Stephy Mavididi earns his first Premier League start of the season as Steve Cooper makes one change to Leicester City’s lineup for their 3 pm clash against Crystal Palace.

Mavididi, who had been on the bench for the first three league games, impressed as a substitute during the 2-1 loss to Aston Villa and now enters the starting 11.

Abdul Fatawu is the player to drop out, marking his first absence from the starting squad this season.

Jordan Ayew retains his place and will face his former club, Crystal Palace, where he spent six years before joining Leicester this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Mavididi or Ayew will play on the left wing, as Mavididi typically operates on that side while Ayew started there in the previous match.

The choice of wings for these players could also impact the roles of Leicester’s full-backs.

If Ayew plays on the right and drifts inside as a second number 10 when Leicester is in possession, James Justin would push forward, with Victor Kristiansen tucking in to form a back three.

Justin and Kristiansen both retain their places, meaning Ricardo Pereira continues to wait for his first league start.

Wilfred Ndidi also keeps his spot in the lineup, playing an advanced midfield role, leaving Facundo Buonanotte and Bilal El Khannouss on the bench for now.

In defense, Caleb Okoli keeps his place alongside Wout Faes after making his Premier League debut against Villa.

Jannik Vestergaard is again excluded from the squad, with Conor Coady named on the bench.

Kasey McAteer is also left out of the matchday squad.
