Report: Everton Engaged in Transfer Discussions for New ‘Top Target’, Club Open to Sale

According to a report from an Italian journalist via X on July 12, the Serie A club is open to selling the Danish international if a strong offer is made, with negotiations currently underway involving Everton.

Lindstrøm, having spent just one season with Napoli, is reportedly Everton’s top target for the current transfer window. Despite making 22 Serie A appearances last season, he started only two matches after his move from Eintracht Frankfurt and missed out on selection for Euro 2024.

The 24-year-old’s tenure with Napoli saw limited impact, featuring mostly as a substitute in 29 outings across all competitions without scoring or assisting. However, his previous stint in Germany, where he amassed 14 goals and 14 assists over two seasons with Eintracht, underscores his appeal to Everton’s Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell, who seek to bolster attacking options.

Following the acquisition of Iliman Ndiaye earlier in the summer, Lindstrøm’s versatility in various attacking roles aligns with Everton’s strategy to strengthen areas lacking depth last season. Additionally, Everton’s proactive approach in response to developments in their pursuit of Hull City winger Jaden Philogene suggests a keen focus on securing alternative targets.

Furthermore, negotiations with Tottenham regarding the return of Dele Alli, with discussions centered on restructuring payment terms (The Athletic, July 12), could potentially provide Dyche with ample options in attacking midfield positions for the upcoming season.
