Report: Everton Include Defender Praised by Pep Guardiola in Their January Shortlist
Three Weeks into the January Transfer Window, Everton Have Yet to Sign a Player

Everton has recently undergone significant changes off the pitch.
With a new manager, David Moyes, now at the helm, the club is actively pursuing January signings to strengthen the squad.
Moyes managed to lead Everton to an impressive victory over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, which he hopes will serve as a turning point for the team’s performance.
While Everton showed their attacking prowess in that win, there is now a focus on bolstering the defense. One player identified as a potential target is Chelsea’s left-back, Ben Chilwell.
Everton’s interest in Chilwell comes amid some setbacks in the transfer market, including the likelihood of missing out on Lyon’s Ernest Nuamah.

However, the club cannot afford to dwell on missed opportunities. According to The Athletic, Everton sees Chilwell as a valuable addition during the closing weeks of the transfer window.
A loan move for Chilwell is not feasible, as Chelsea has already reached their season limit for loan signings.
Although Everton considered terminating Armando Broja’s loan to free up a spot, Chelsea would demand full payment for an early termination.
This makes a permanent deal for Chilwell the only realistic option.
Moyes is eager to strengthen the left-back position, with Everton’s current options limited to Vitaliy Mykolenko.
However, Chilwell’s injury history raises concerns about his readiness and ability to make an immediate impact.

Having played only 45 minutes for Chelsea this season, he would require a gradual integration into Everton’s squad to avoid setbacks.
Despite these challenges, Chilwell’s talent is undeniable.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola once praised the defender in a private conversation.
Chilwell recalled to the Daily Mail: “He told me that he thought I was a really talented player and that he wanted me to keep playing well, getting up and down the pitch.”
If Everton can secure a deal for Chilwell, his skillset and experience could provide a significant boost to the team, addressing a key weakness in the squad and enhancing their chances of success this season.
