Report: Everton ‘Ready to Buy’ £7m Defender, Club Struggling to Keep Him

The Italian outlet claims that Director of Football Kevin Thelwell is ready to buy Tchatchoua despite his €8m (£7m) price tag. Hellas Verona only signed the 22-year-old full-back this summer, turning his loan into a permanent deal for a mere £2.5 million. The club might find it hard to resist an offer from a big Premier League club like Everton.
It seems unusual that Sean Dyche is prioritizing the right-back position, which is already congested with Nathan Patterson, Seamus Coleman, and Ashley Young. In contrast, Vitaliy Mykolenko is the sole left-back, with only the 39-year-old Ashley Young as his backup.
The sale of Ben Godfrey has decreased depth across the backline, as he was a versatile player capable of filling in wherever needed. However, he made just 13 Premier League starts last season and was always a fringe option.
Tchatchoua is likely a fine asset and a solid defender, but with the limited funds Everton has left to spend this summer, it might be wiser to invest in a higher-quality winger or strengthen other areas of the defense.
