Report: Everton Table Offer Exceeding £20m for Targeted Defender

Everton have leaned heavily on the defensive pairing of James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite throughout the season, but there’s a growing sense that an upgrade could be necessary—particularly in light of recent performances.

Tarkowski has come under scrutiny for some reckless displays under new manager David Moyes, prompting speculation that the Toffees could soon be in the market for a replacement at the heart of their defence.

Everton Submit Over £20m Offer for Hancko

According to Tuttomercatoweb (10 April), Everton have submitted an offer exceeding £20 million for Feyenoord centre-back David Hancko.

The Merseyside club are reported to have made their interest in the 27-year-old Slovakia international official by tabling a concrete bid.

However, Feyenoord are said to be holding out for a fee closer to £26 million, amid growing interest from European heavyweights such as Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Bayer Leverkusen.

CaughtOffside previously reported (8 April) that the Dutch club may be willing to part ways with Hancko if their £34.1 million valuation is met.

Defensive Reinforcements a Priority

With Real Madrid monitoring Jarrad Branthwaite after his standout performances at Goodison Park, Everton could be bracing for a major defensive loss in the near future.

The potential departure of the 22-year-old would leave a considerable void, especially as the club’s depth in central defence remains questionable.

Jake O’Brien has shown flashes of potential under Moyes but has mainly featured as a right-back, leaving uncertainty about his fit as a central defender.

Meanwhile, Michael Keane is expected to leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires, with no signs of a renewal on the horizon.

Hancko, who joined Feyenoord in 2022, has established himself as a key figure in the Eredivisie, also showcasing his versatility by filling in at left-back when required.
