Report: Former United Boss Solskjaer Poised for Sensational Premier League Comeback with New Club
Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may soon return to the Premier League as Leicester City’s new head coach.
The Sun reports that the 51-year-old has been in discussions with the Foxes about taking over the managerial role. Enzo Maresca, who recently led Leicester back to the Premier League, has now taken charge at Chelsea, leaving the club searching for a new manager.
Leicester City sees Solskjaer as a suitable replacement for Maresca. The Norwegian is reportedly eager to accept the challenge of keeping the Foxes in the Premier League next season. He is highly regarded by club chairman Top Srivaddhanaprabha and was a strong contender for the position last summer before Maresca was appointed.
Solskjaer initially took over at Manchester United as a caretaker in December 2018 following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal. His positive impact at Old Trafford led to a permanent contract, and he guided the team to a third-place finish in his first full season. Under his leadership, United finished second to Manchester City the following season, but Solskjaer was dismissed after a poor start to the 2021-22 campaign.
Since then, the 51-year-old has received several managerial offers but has not been interested in any until now.
