Leeds United are targeting NEC winger Sontje Hansen as a replacement for Crysencio Summerville, according to VI.
The Whites are anticipating Summerville’s departure to West Ham this summer after agreeing on a deal for the 21-year-old to move to the London Stadium. Consequently, they are now searching for a suitable replacement.
Daniel Farke, known for his European transfer acumen, has identified another Dutch winger, Hansen, to step into Summerville’s role for the 2024/25 season. However, Leeds will face competition from within England for Hansen’s signature.
Leeds Aim to Sign Sontje Hansen
With Summerville’s move to London nearing completion, Leeds are preparing to replace him and have pinpointed the Eredivisie star as a key target for their Championship squad.
Hansen joined NEC on a free transfer from Ajax last summer and became a regular under manager Rogier Meijer, tallying six goals and seven assists in 38 appearances.
This summer, he dealt with an injury that sidelined him for much of pre-season, but he is now fit and training with the team. Leeds are ready to make their move to bring him to England.
However, they face competition from League One side Birmingham City, who are also interested.
Hansen still has three years left on his NEC contract, and if the Dutch club decides to sell, they will demand a “high transfer fee” from the interested English clubs.
Leeds United Submit Bid for Ryan Kent
In addition to pursuing Hansen, Leeds have identified several other attacking options to potentially replace Summerville this season.
They have tabled a €3 million bid for former Rangers winger Ryan Kent, who was recently told by new Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho that he has no future at the club, just 12 months after joining.
There is also strong interest in Crystal Palace star Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, with Leeds considering a loan deal for the 20-year-old.
However, they face stiff competition from Premier League newcomers Southampton, with Rak-Sakyi reportedly preferring to stay in the top flight rather than drop to the Championship.
Summerville is expected to complete his move to West Ham this weekend after passing a medical.
He is set to sign a five-year deal following the agreement of a £25 million-plus deal between the two clubs.
