Leicester City have made an enhanced bid for a young winger they aim to bring to the King Power Stadium. Manager Steve Cooper is keen to finalize his transfer dealings early ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Cooper has already secured signings including Michael Golding, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, and Caleb Okoli this summer. These additions help mitigate the loss of former midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who expressed his desire to reunite with former Foxes manager Enzo Maresca at Chelsea.
Additionally, star midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is set to commit his future to the club, providing even more options in the center of the park with Premier League experience. However, Cooper’s current priority is securing a winger, and Leicester City are preparing a second bid to meet this need.
According to Sportmediaset, Leicester City have submitted a revised bid of £26 million for Matias Soule. Juventus has valued the Argentinian winger at £30 million, but Leicester City are optimistic about acquiring the player with their £26 million offer, which includes £22 million upfront and £4 million in add-ons.
Juventus manager Thiago Motta reportedly wants to retain Soule for the upcoming Serie A season. However, an offer close to the £30 million mark could see the winger move to the King Power Stadium. Last season, Soule was on loan at Frosinone, where he finished as the club’s top scorer with 12 goals. He is versatile, capable of playing on the right wing as well as through the middle.
Cooper is determined to secure Soule, whom he sees as a necessary goal threat across the front line. Soule’s athleticism, ability to challenge goalkeepers from a distance by cutting onto his powerful left foot from the right wing, and proven goal-scoring record make him a valuable asset for Leicester City.
Despite Cooper’s mixed success with foreign players during his tenure at Nottingham Forest, he has identified Soule as a key target. The £26 million bid is considered affordable compared to the prices of English players of similar quality.
If Cooper can optimize Soule’s performance and provide him with ample game time to adapt to the Premier League, Leicester City could have a real gem in their squad. The Argentinian’s potential to become a standout player at the King Power Stadium is significant, and his acquisition could be a crucial step in strengthening the team’s attacking options for the upcoming season.
