The club has successfully offloaded several players to balance their books against June’s PSR deadline.
However, this has not deterred the Toffees from equipping Sean Dyche with the necessary resources to enhance his squad for the new season.
With about a month left in this summer’s transfer window, Everton may not be finished yet. They have three players on their radar with just two weeks until their season opener against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Everton’s Transfer Targets for Sean Dyche
Despite the positive transfer activity, Everton’s recent takeover collapse has cast a shadow over their progress.
Negotiations with The Friedkin Group have stalled, and it appears the deal is off. Farhad Moshiri will need to find another interested party for fresh talks.
Adding to the challenges, Everton’s pre-season has been less than ideal, with Dyche’s side losing two and drawing one of their opening three friendlies. However, not all new signings have featured in these games, and there is still time to strengthen the squad.
Everton is currently prioritizing the acquisition of a new midfielder and has shown concrete interest in three players: Kalvin Phillips, Habib Diarra, and Lesley Ugochukwu.
Kalvin Phillips
The door is open for Everton to sign Kalvin Phillips this summer. Phillips might be regretting his decision to leave his boyhood club for Manchester City in a £45 million deal. Two years later, he has played only 914 minutes under Pep Guardiola.
While he has won numerous trophies, his career has suffered, and he has lost his spot in the England squad.
Guardiola, speaking about Phillips’ future, said, “I don’t know what will happen to him, he knows the situation…”
Habib Diarra and Lesley Ugochukwu
Alongside Phillips, Everton is also eyeing Habib Diarra and Lesley Ugochukwu to fill the midfield void left by the sale of Amadou Onana to Aston Villa for around £50 million.
Despite setbacks, Everton remains proactive in the transfer market, aiming to secure the midfield reinforcements needed to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
