Report: Leicester Eyeing Move for “Incredible” Crystal Palace Star as Glasner Considers Sale
Leicester City are reportedly considering a surprising move for Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew.
Steve Cooper took charge of the Foxes earlier this summer, succeeding former manager Enzo Maresca, who departed for Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Leicester returns to the top flight next season after being relegated in 2023.
The club’s most notable arrivals this summer include winger Issahaku Fatawu from Sporting CP, defender Caleb Okoli from Serie A side Juventus, former Chelsea youngster Michael Golding, and Bobby De Cordova-Reid on a free transfer.
Leicester City ‘eye’ Jordan Ayew
City may further strengthen their squad with a potential move for Ayew. The 32-year-old, who has 12 months left on his contract at Selhurst Park, might leave Crystal Palace this summer. Journalist Alan Nixon reported on his Patreon that Leicester is exploring a deal.
Cooper is keen to enhance his forward line ahead of the new season, and Ayew has emerged as a potential target.
Crystal Palace, under manager Oliver Glasner, is also revamping their squad. Glasner, who was appointed midway through last season, led the Eagles to a top-10 finish in the Premier League. Ayew, praised as ‘incredible’ by Pep Guardiola, has been with Palace since 2019, joining from Swansea City.
His career also includes stints at Aston Villa, FC Lorient, and Marseille. Nixon notes that Leicester may face competition for Ayew’s signature, as there is also interest from Saudi Arabia.
Championship Clubs ‘Interested’ in Tom Cannon
Additionally, young Leicester City forward Tom Cannon has attracted interest from a trio of Championship clubs. Alan Nixon, again writing on his Patreon, reported that West Brom, Stoke City, and Sheffield United are all keen on signing the 21-year-old.
They are exploring the possibility of a loan move for Cannon, who has four years remaining on his contract at the King Power Stadium.
Cannon was part of the Leicester City team that won the Championship last season under Enzo Maresca, scoring two goals in 13 league appearances.
Now, new Foxes boss Cooper faces a significant decision regarding Cannon’s future.
A product of Everton’s youth system, Cannon made four senior appearances for the Toffees.
He also had a loan spell at Preston North End before permanently moving to Leicester City last summer.
