Report: Leicester Submit £10m Bid for Player Targeted by Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest Set to Battle Steve Cooper for Player as Former City Ground Manager Makes First Move

The 44-year-old spent two and a half years at Trentside, transforming the club from the bottom of the Championship to the Premier League. Cooper restored Premier League football to Nottingham Forest for the first time in 23 years, and his reputation remains highly esteemed in the city.

Now, he is tasked with reviving the fortunes of Leicester City, and it appears that Forest will be competing with him for one player. Leicester, however, have taken the initiative ahead of Forest.

Leicester Submit First Bid for Alexis Saelemaekers

According to Football Italia, Leicester have made a £10 million bid for the winger. This comes amid interest from several Premier League clubs, with Forest linked to Saelemaekers yesterday.

The AC Milan player is available for transfer this summer following an impressive loan spell with Bologna during the 2023/24 season. He joined the San Siro giants from Anderlecht in 2020, and they are now looking to recoup the £10.9 million they paid for him.

Forest are in the market for a new winger this summer, which has led them to Saelemaekers. The Belgian won’t be joining Bologna permanently and is now attracting interest from several clubs before the season starts.

One Concern for Forest Regarding Saelemaekers

Although it may sound picky, if Forest are going to sign a new winger, he really needs to be left-footed. Forest already have Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi as right-footed options but lack a left-footed winger. Saelemaekers wouldn’t address this need, so the club might want to move on quickly from this one.

Letting Leicester have a free run at the Belgian wouldn’t be ideal, but considering Saelemaekers managed only seven goal contributions last season, he doesn’t represent an upgrade over Elanga or Hudson-Odoi.
