West Ham United are looking to sign Juventus forward Matias Soule this summer, facing competition from multiple clubs, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 21-year-old had a notable year in Serie A on loan at Frosinone, scoring 11 goals and assisting three in 36 games. According to Romano, the Argentinian is attracting ‘concrete interest’ from West Ham and other clubs, but no formal bid has been made to Juventus yet.
Soule, a Juventus academy graduate, joined the club in 2020 and swiftly moved through the youth ranks, making his Serie A debut in November 2021. He is considered one of the best young attacking talents in Serie A, having played a breakthrough season at Frosinone and finishing as their top scorer in the league.
Described as ‘terrific,’ Soule could form a potent front three with Mohamed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen next season. West Ham are eager to add a right-sided attacker for Julen Lopetegui’s first season in London.
Romano, in his Daily Briefing, notes that the race for Soule is still open as no club has advanced negotiations with Juventus:
“Matias Soule is attracting concrete interest from West Ham and others but no formal bid yet, so Soule could be one to watch in terms of exits.
“Juventus want around €40 million (£34m) to let Soule leave the club, so it won’t be an easy negotiation between clubs but for sure there’s lot of interest around Europe, including at least 4-5 clubs from abroad.
“It’s an open race, but West Ham are keen.”
Earlier this year, Soule expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, calling it his favorite league and saying it ‘would be a dream to play there.’
Soule, praised by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig for scoring a Lionel Messi-like goal, was targeted by Saudi Pro League clubs in January. However, he rejected a move to Al-Ittihad, stating ‘there was no chance of me going there’.
In addition to Soule, West Ham are also interested in signing out-of-contract Real Betis defender Juan Miranda, according to GMS sources. The Hammers face competition from several Premier League sides for the 24-year-old, who is set for a summer move after his contract expired.
Miranda, who was close to joining Milan in January, spent the last three seasons at Betis, where he developed into a first-team player. The left-back is a graduate of Barcelona’s La Masia academy and made his debut for the Catalan side in 2018.
