Report: Newcastle Poised to Outpace Champions League Giants for ‘Next Gabriel Martinelli’ Signing

Newcastle Closing in on Malaga Winger Antonio Cordero
Newcastle United are on the verge of signing promising Malaga winger Antonio Cordero, with MailOnline reporting that the Magpies are ahead of Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race for the 18-year-old talent.
Cordero’s contract with Malaga expires in less than six months, and Newcastle are confident of finalizing a pre-contract agreement soon after making significant progress in negotiations.
The youngster could arrive at St James’ Park as a free agent in the summer, adding to Newcastle’s growing pool of young talent, which recently saw the acquisition of Georgian forward Vakhtang Salia, set to join in August.
Talks Progressing Well

Newcastle’s sporting director, Paul Mitchell, has reportedly held discussions with Cordero and his representatives during their recent visit to Tyneside, increasing optimism that a deal will soon be completed.
Cordero, a left-sided winger capable of playing on either flank, has been in fine form for Malaga, contributing four goals and six assists in 25 appearances this season.
The teenager, who has been likened to Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, made an explosive start to the campaign, registering seven goal contributions in his first six games.
Newcastle’s Summer Plans
Newcastle had a quiet January transfer window, failing to replace Miguel Almirón and Lloyd Kelly, who moved to Atalanta United and Juventus, respectively. Instead, they have shifted their focus to summer reinforcements.
The Magpies are still monitoring PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko, a 21-year-old right-sided winger who will have 12 months remaining on his contract in July.
Newcastle could secure him for a cut-price £33m deal as they strengthen their attacking options.
