Report: Potter May Offload West Ham Trio with a Combined 153 International Caps This Summer

Graham Potter took charge of West Ham just over a month ago, and while there have been noticeable improvements in playing style, results have been hard to come by.

So far, he has managed only one win—a 3-2 victory over Fulham at the London Stadium last month.

Midfielder James Ward-Prowse has admitted that the squad is struggling to adapt to Potter’s tactical approach.

However, it is still early days, and with patience and support, Potter has the potential to lead West Ham to long-term success.

For that to happen, though, significant investment will be required in the summer. Reports suggest that Potter is eager to oversee a major squad overhaul at the London Stadium.

Potter is aware that the current squad lacks the right balance, largely due to poor planning by previous managers David Moyes and Julen Lopetegui.

Now, the 49-year-old has the task of restructuring the team, with at least five or six major signings needed this summer.

However, before that can happen, several players may need to be sold. According to Give Me Sport, Potter is planning a squad clear-out, with three key players potentially set to leave: Mohammed Kudus, Edson Álvarez, and Guido Rodríguez.

At the start of the season, the idea of selling Kudus or Álvarez would have seemed unthinkable. But now, their departures might not be as damaging as once feared.

Kudus, Álvarez, and Rodríguez Could Be on Their Way Out

Kudus is a talented player, but his inconsistency has been frustrating.

At times, he displays brilliance, but he has struggled to perform consistently and does not seem fully committed to the club.

Álvarez, like his former Ajax teammate, possesses undeniable quality. However, his aggressive playing style has been costly, with reckless tackles leading to multiple dismissals.

His lack of discipline has hurt the team on several occasions.

As for Rodríguez, his struggles in the Premier League have been evident.

From the start, he has looked ill-suited to English football, proving to be a poor signing. His departure would likely be the least controversial of the three.

A Necessary Summer Overhaul

If Potter is to complete the squad rebuild he envisions at West Ham, he will need to generate funds.

Offloading Kudus, Álvarez, and Rodríguez could provide the financial boost required to reshape the team.

While their exits might have seemed unlikely earlier in the season, their inconsistencies and struggles have made them expendable.
