According to journalist Ignazio Genuardi, Arsenal have now entered the race for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, joining Tottenham Hotspur in their pursuit.
Onana has been a key player in Everton’s midfield since his move from Lille in 2022 and is expected to leave the Merseyside club this summer. Back in April, reliable Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe revealed that Spurs were planning a summer move for the 22-year-old. TEAMtalk later reported that Tottenham would face competition from Chelsea and Barcelona for Onana’s signature.
Genuardi recently stated on social media that Arsenal are now also interested in Onana, describing the Gunners as ‘strongly interested’ in the Belgian. He highlighted that Mikel Arteta’s team will face competition from their North London rivals as well as from Spanish clubs. Everton are expected to demand €60m (£50.5m) for Onana.
While Onana has performed decently at Everton, he has not been exceptional. It is intriguing that several top clubs are vying for the Belgian. It appears that many managers and insiders believe the 22-year-old could excel in a better team with stronger players around him.
