Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing a loan move for Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku as the summer transfer window approaches.

Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that Tottenham are eyeing a move for Nkunku, who is reportedly “virtually assured” to leave Chelsea this summer.

The French forward is said to have drawn interest from several clubs, and now both his situation and Chelsea’s stance appear clearer.

Tottenham are allegedly willing to propose an initial loan deal, including a €45 million (£38 million) option to buy.

Such a structure could appeal to Chelsea while allowing Spurs to bolster their attacking options without a major upfront cost.

The deal would give Tottenham a chance to add depth to their forward line, especially with financial flexibility.

Nkunku, who has started just nine Premier League games this season due to injuries and selection choices, is seen by many as a player with untapped potential.

Former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet has expressed his belief in Nkunku’s abilities, though he acknowledges the Frenchman has struggled to find consistent game time.

Poyet noted that Nkunku could thrive with more minutes under new manager Enzo Maresca.

“Christopher Nkunku is a very good player,” Poyet said. “But the way Chelsea have played hasn’t helped him much, especially with just one man up front. It makes it harder for him to break into the team.”

Poyet added that Nkunku’s decision to remain at Chelsea in January was likely personal, and while some players might seek a move after limited chances, others stay to fight for their place.

“It’s hard to judge what Nkunku can really offer because he hasn’t had a consistent run of games,” Poyet concluded.

“If he were given more regular minutes, it would be much easier to evaluate his impact. Without that, it’s almost impossible.”
