Daniel Iversen Set to Leave Leicester City
As Leicester prepares for their clash with Arsenal, reports from Football League World suggest that goalkeeper Daniel Iversen could be on his way out of the club, with Preston North End interested in signing him on a free transfer this summer.
The report indicates that Preston is keen on bringing back Iversen, who previously had two successful loan spells at Deepdale.
The Danish shot-stopper’s contract expires at the end of the season, and with no appearances this campaign, it appears his time at the King Power Stadium is coming to an end.
Iversen joined Leicester in January 2016 but has never secured a regular starting position, spending much of his career on loan at various clubs in England.
His most recent appearances for Leicester came during the 2022/23 Premier League season, when he became a regular starter under then-manager Brendan Rodgers.
However, Enzo Maresca did not consider him part of his plans last season, leading to a loan move to Stoke City for the latter half of the campaign.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper’s best form came while playing for Preston, where he made 71 appearances over two separate loan spells in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons.
During his time at the club, he conceded 83 goals but also recorded 23 clean sheets, playing a key role in Preston’s push for a top-six finish.
A return to Preston would likely see Iversen regain a starting role, which is crucial for his career at this stage.
Meanwhile, Leicester would be parting ways with a player who is no longer in their long-term plans, allowing them to focus on other squad priorities heading into the next season.
