Report: West Ham Eye Shock Move for “Top-Class” Brazilian Star to Bolster Lopetegui’s Squad
West Ham United are reportedly interested in Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz ahead of the January transfer window, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Hammers, along with Fulham, are listed as potential destinations for the Brazilian, who has struggled to find his footing at Juventus since moving from Aston Villa last summer.
The 26-year-old has featured for only 342 minutes under Thiago Motta this season and remains a fringe player for the Turin side, despite the club spending £42m to acquire him in June.
The report suggests Juventus may look to sell players, including Luiz, to finance their pursuit of Feyenoord defender David Hancko in January.
Midfielder Nicolo Fagioli and winger Samuel Mbangula are also reportedly on the potential transfer list.
While there’s no clear indication of Luiz’s valuation, West Ham and Fulham have been identified as interested parties for the “top-class” midfielder.
West Ham were significant spenders in the summer, investing nearly £100m on nine signings, including midfielders Carlos Soler and Guido Rodriguez.
Despite this, their performance has been disappointing, with the club sitting 14th in the Premier League table after 16 games and securing just five wins.
