West Ham United will need to offload some players before finalizing a deal to sign Carlos Soler from PSG, Fabrizio Romano has exclusively informed GIVEMESPORT.
On Friday, it was reported that the Hammers are leading the race to acquire the Spanish playmaker, who joined PSG in 2022.
Soler was not included in Luis Enrique’s squad for PSG’s 6-0 victory over Montpellier on Friday night, as negotiations continued to send the 27-year-old to the London Stadium.
To ensure the transfer goes through, Romano explained that manager Julen Lopetegui must let go of some fringe players to free up funds for the former Spain international.
West Ham Close to £22M Deal for PSG’s Carlos Soler
Romano noted that West Ham needs to prioritize player sales to complete the deal for Soler. He said:
“They [West Ham] have several names. For example, Ings and others who could leave the club in the final days.
To be honest, at this moment, it is not something that is close or imminent yet.
“I think also, many clubs are interested in West Ham players, knowing that they have signed many. So, they [interested clubs] will try and come in last minute in the final days to get the best deal possible.
“This is part of the final days of the summer transfer window, as always. But again, at the moment, nothing imminent.”
Reports suggest that West Ham is eager to move Danny Ings, who joined the club 18 months ago.
The former Liverpool forward is one of the highest earners at West Ham, with a weekly wage of £125,000.
Everton Looking to Swoop In for Soler
PSG is reportedly ready to let go of Soler if they receive an offer around £20 million, but they are not interested in a loan move, preferring a permanent transfer instead.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Everton is also keen to sign Soler, which has intensified the competition for his signature.
Everton manager Sean Dyche sees Soler as the perfect replacement for Amadou Onana, who recently moved to Aston Villa.
Despite this, West Ham remains in a strong position due to the groundwork they have laid throughout the summer transfer window.
Their persistent efforts could give them an edge in securing Soler’s transfer before the deadline.
