Report: West Ham star rumored to be dropped from international squad for upcoming matches.

West Ham’s Alphonse Areola set to be dropped from France squad for upcoming matches, reports Le Parisien.

On November 6, Get Football News France quoted a French news outlet’s article stating that Lille’s Lucas Chevalier is expected to replace West Ham’s first-choice goalkeeper, Alphonse Areola.

Areola has been third in the French national team’s goalkeeper pecking order, behind Mike Maignan and Brice Samba, and now seems set to drop another spot.

This season has not been ideal for Areola, who, despite a few solid performances, has not been a standout player.

In eight Premier League appearances, he has conceded 14 goals and kept only one clean sheet, a disappointing return given the high expectations surrounding him.

For West Ham, Areola staying during the international break could actually be beneficial, as it offers him more time to improve his game with the club’s goalkeeping unit.

He could focus on specific aspects of his performance through one-on-one sessions with the coaches, preparing for the busy festive period ahead.

Both manager Julen Lopetegui and the Hammers’ supporters will be hoping to see a more commanding presence from Areola in the box, as well as an improvement in his clean sheet tally moving forward.
